Summary

What if the chance of a perfect life… put your daughter in grave danger?

Being a single mother is tough, but I’d do anything for my little girl Scarlet。 I’d given up on my career as a voice actor when the call came, but suddenly I was the new narrator for a secret book from bestselling author Philippa Roberts, who has been missing for eight months。 It was a lifeline for me and my daughter。

I hated that it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex in his perfect new home with his perfect new girlfriend。 But I knew it was the right thing to do。

But as I start reading Philippa’s new novel, I start to wonder if it’s no coincidence that I’ve been chosen to narrate it。 There’s something hidden in the pages of this book, I’m sure of it。 Some clue to Philippa’s disappearance。 And I don’t feel safe。 I think I’m being watched。 My room has been searched。

And then my ex’s girlfriend calls in tears and everything starts to click together。 If I don’t find answers fast, I’ll lose more than my second chance。 I’ll lose my daughter。

Starts out a bit slow with a few different changes in points-of-view and timelines, but the fast-paced, twisty ending makes up for it。 Overall, an entertaining thriller with a satisfying ending。

A Very Riveting Book!!This book has so many twists and turns it’ll make your head spin。 What everything appears to be is not always the truth。 The ending had me totally shocked。 It was not expected or predictable。

2。5 stars rounded up。 I’ve read a few of this authors books and enjoyed them but really struggled with this one。 I found it quite boring and really couldn’t relate to the main character。 She was so annoying and didn’t have any backbone just letting everyone walk over her。 I nearly didn’t finish but struggled on to the end

This started out a little slowly but that was important to establish the different characters and timelines。 There were several of both but it didn’t get confusing; KL Slater does a good job of differentiating between the many POVs。 I read/listen to a lot of thrillers so I sometimes guess the twist but I definitely did not see this one coming。 It was unique and so unexpected。 Highly recommended for those who love a few good plot twists。I received a copy from #NetGalley for an honest review。

Why is his office locked up tighter than Fort Knox? 。。。more

What is happening is actually kind of predictable。 When anyone is this vague…。 So, the “twist” at the end isn’t surprising at all and is senseless and ridiculous if you look at it in any detail。 Still, watching someone stumble around was entertaining, for the most part。Not my favorite KL Slater book。 I will continue to read them, though, because this isn’t the norm。I didn’t have the audio version。 I’m not sure why I cannot choose a different version。 So I cannot comment on the narrators of The Narrator。 。。。more
